City’s new tennis complex more than pays for itself

To The Daily:

To The Daily: I’m responding to the recent comments regarding the tennis complex at Point Mallard.

First, the tennis bubble was paid for by the Decatur tennis community and the charges paid to play cover the cost of utilities. There is no maintenance per se.

The clay courts require either a yearly membership fee or pay-as-you-play to cover their maintenance and upkeep. There have been and will be even more tournaments, which have certainly helped fill our hotels and restaurants. They have made a significant economic impact on our city.

I do agree that Jeff Dunlap is doing a great job, but he would be the first to agree our new complex is already a boon to our city’s development.
