29-1 Brewer continues to roll

Riley Northway poured in 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to carry the Brewer High girls to the Class 5A, Area 12 tournament crown with a convincing 69-40 win over Columbia on Saturday night.

Point guard Rheagan Harvel added 10 points and handed out 11 assists.

Savana Flack had nine points, and Sierra Kinser contributed eight for Brewer (29-1).

Columbia's Jasmynn Batts sank 20 points in the loss.

Brewer led 47-13 at the half.

The Patriots host Boaz in the sub-regionals at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Class 3A, Area 13

Danville 44, Good Hope 42: Tabitha Hutto's layup with four seconds to play and Tara Tuck's two free throws a couple of seconds later were enough to cap the Hawks' rally to win the Class 3A, Area 13 title.

Danville was down 33-27 and outscored Good Hope 17-9 down the stretch.

Sydney Shelton had 18 points and five blocks for Danville. Gracie George scored eight of her 13 points in the fourth quarter.

Tuck added four points, four rebounds and seven assists.

Kayla Tillman and Cara Goodwin led Good Hope (18-13) with 13 points apiece.

Danville (24-8) will host Cordova at 7 p.m. Thursday in the sub-regional.

Good Hope, meanwhile, travels to Winfield.

Class 3A, Area 15

Madison Academy 53, West Morgan 28: Annie Homan scored 11 points and Sydney Shelton added 10 for the Rebels but it wasn't nearly enough in the area finals.

Madison Academy's Sierra Jones led all scorers with 17 points.

The Mustangs led 18-14 at the half.

West Morgan (8-20) plays at the winner of the Mars Hill/Lauderdale County contest in the sub-regionals Thursday.

Class 4A, Area 15

Brooks 55, Priceville 38: Brooks overcame a six-point deficit in the third quarter to beat Priceville for the Class 4A, Area 15 title.

As the Area 15 champion, Brooks hosts Central on Thursday in the Class 4A sub-regional round of the postseason, while Priceville travels to West Limestone.

K'Maya Roach led Brooks with 18 points, while Erin Jewell tossed in 16 with 12 rebounds.

Jada Beverly led Priceville with nine points.
