Storm causes damage in Limestone County

Three people on Snapdevin Way off East Limestone Road said they saw a tornado that damaged at least three barns and two homes, and downed power lines.

The Friday storm picked up a dock in a fish pond and set it down in a driveway.

One woman placed the time at 9:02 a.m. because she said she was on her cell phone when the storm hit.

Athens Utilities Electric Manager Gary Scroggins said downed lines left 600 to 700 customers in the East Limestone area without power for about 30 minutes after the 8:30 a.m. storm.

He said only eight to 10 customers were still without power at 11 a.m.
