Ardmore wins slugfest

Ardmore High baseball topped East Limestone 11-10 in seven innings Saturday night.

The teams totaled 21 hits, including three extra base hits in the game.

Ben Hargrove and Cody Elliott scored two runs apiece for the Tigers, while Adam Clark, Cody Reed, Austin Turner, Hayden Durrett, Garett Miller, Thomas Davidson and Robbie Stephenson also scored one run each in the win.

Reed pitched five innings, striking out five.

Ardmore 17, James Clemens 14: Austin Turner led the Tigers from the plate, with three hits, three runs and nine RBIs.

Hargrove struck out six in 2 1/3 innings, and contributed four runs in the win.

Hazel Green 4, Hartselle 3: The tight game was decided in the eighth inning, as the Tigers fell at home.

Chris Brown finished with two RBIs on three hits, with two singles and a double.

Deacon Aldridge, Aaron Lamb and Tanner Oakes all contributed runs in the loss.

The Tigers (8-5) host Russellville and Walker on Monday.

Hartselle 6, Pelham 5: The Tigers found a win after seven lead changes, when Blake Slayton hit a solo home run in the seventh inning.

Brett Blackwood racked up two RBIs on one hit, and hit a home run in the fourth inning.

Levi Tapscott got the pitching win, allowing two runs over two innings. Tapscott struck out one and gave up four hits.

Huntsville 14, Austin 5: Chandler Busing got things rolling for the Black Bears with a single in the top of the first, but the Panthers responded with three runs, grabbing the lead from the start.

Chris Sparkman led Austin with two hits, while Derrick Adams, Jimmy Pritchett, Hunter Nelson, Daniel Gaietto and Dylan Jones scored runs in the loss.

Gaietto finished with two RBIs, while Sparkman, Pritchett and Nelson all contributed doubles.

Austin (3-6) visits Lawrence County on Monday.

Sparkman 13, Austin 4: Trailing by seven, Riley Camp singled in the bottom of the first, scoring Jones, but the Black Bears couldn’t catch up.

Jones finished with two runs in the loss, while Camp and Sparkman contributed one each. Peyton Miller, Camp and Richardson each had two hits.

Bob Jones 11, Austin 5: Terry Sibley scored two runs, but it wasn’t enough to put the Black Bears ahead.

Camp finished with a double and scored one run, while Adams and Jones also scored in the loss.

Miller, Chris Fail and Camp contributed RBIs.

Saint James 10, Decatur 0: Tanner Burns was 1-for-1 with a hit by pitch in the FCA Tournament.

Quintin Dupper finished with a single.

Decatur (4-5) hosts East Limestone on Tuesday.

Decatur Heritage 10, Danville 4: Pierce Thompson led from the mound, striking out 12 through seven innings. He allowed four runs, four runs and three walks.

Collin Fuller finished with three singles for the Eagles, while Sawyer Holland, Lee Godwin, Taylor Nichols, Kyle Lasch, Zach Armstrong and Kyle Stuart also added singles in the win.

Danville visits Hatton for a doubleheader Monday. Decatur Heritage hosts Covenant on Saturday.

Elkmont 4-0, Clements 3-12: The Red Devils took the first win, splitting the doubleheader played at Elkmont Saturday.

In Game 1, Justin White hit a solo home run, while Seth Hamilton tripled, scoring one run and one RBI in the loss.

Cole White singled and doubled, scoring one run, while Clay Russell finished with a double in the loss.

In Game 2, Russell scored two runs off of two hits with two RBIs, while White finished with a single and a double, scoring three runs in the win.

Jacob Schmidt scored two runs and Hayden Russell doubled, scoring one run in the win.

Cody Baucom got the pitching win, striking out two and allowing one hit through five innings.

Clements (9-4) hosts Colbert County on Monday in an area game.

Softball

Deshler 7, Decatur 0: The Red Raiders were shut out in the final game of the Madison Academy Tournament.

Makayla Hayes, Briley Terry and Peyton Hewitt each finished with singles in the loss.

Decatur (5-7) hosts Ardmore on Monday.

Decatur 1, Madison Academy 0: Bria Smiley singled to score Makayla Moore in the first inning, scoring Decatur’s lone run in the game played in the Madison Academy Tournament.

Moore and Hayes also added singes in the win, while Terry had one hit.

Moore pitched 4 1/3 innings in the win. Kylee Gooch pitched in relief, striking out one.

Oxford 8, Austin 0: Abbey Claborn finished with two singles in the semifinal loss.

Erin Claborn, Sydney Dishman and Anna Leigh Mitchell each added one single for the Black Bears.

Austin (5-2-1) hosts Decatur on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Austin 6, Fort Payne 2: Dishman hit a solo home run to help the Black Bears advance in the Wallace State Invitational.

Mitchell got the pitching win, striking out three in three innings, while allowing four hits and three walks. Relief pitcher Courtney McCleskey got one strikeout in two innings.

Addi McNutt finished with an RBI-single, while Claborn contributed an RBI-double. Dishman also added two RBIs.

Austin 7, West Point 0: McCleskey pitched a complete game, allowing three hits and two strikeouts in the Wallace State Invitational.

Dishman finished with an RBI-single and a double, while Ashton Hill added an RBI-double. Raven Wade, Aleah Garth, Mariah Campbell and Sophie Page also recorded singles for the Black Bears.

Austin 2, Sardis 2: Campbell finished with a double and an RBI, and Mallory Malone added an RBI-single in the tie.

Erin Kerby allowed one hit and walked three in the Wallace State Invitational game.

Westminster Christian 1, West Morgan 0: Sydney Sanders, Lexie Green and Taylor Goodpastor each had one hit, but lost in the Wallace State Invitational game.

The Rebels (6-9-1) host Madison Academy on Tuesday.

West Morgan 6, Buckhorn 0: Haley Keaty had three hits and a double as the Rebels blanked Buckhorn in the Wallace State Invitational game.

Alexis Casteel led from the mound, striking out three in four innings, while allowing two hits.

Casteel also finished with three hits, while Sanders and Kayla Moore each contributed one hit and one RBI.

Sumiton Christian 1, West Morgan 0: Hannah Draper had one hit in the Wallace State Invitational game.

West Morgan 4, Sylvania 0: Draper took the pitching win in the Wallace State Invitational game.

Briley Stephenson finished with a hit and an RBI, while Keaty, Moore and Casteel also recorded one hit each.

Hatton 1, Mars Hill 0: Danya Snead hit the game-winning double in the FCA Tournament in Florence, breaking the tie in the eighth inning.

Hillary Carpenter pitched a complete game, striking out 12, and had two singles in the win.

Hatton (8-1) visits Tanner on Monday for the area game.

Central 5, Hatton 3: Snead hit a home run, but it was not enough to boost the Class 2A No. 1 Hornets in the FCA Tournament game.

Carey Grace Peebles finished with a double and an RBI, and Carpenter singled with an RBI in the loss.

Southside 3, Lawrence County 2: Adrien Coffey finished with a single and a double, but it was not enough to boost the Red Devils in the Wallace State Invitational semifinal game.

Coffey also contributed two RBIs in the loss.

Lawrence County (9-1-4) hosts Hazel Green on Monday.

Lawrence County 8, Buckhorn 1: Whitney Woodard hit a home run to lift the Red Devils in the Wallace State Invitational game.

Woodard also finished with a single and three RBIs, while Tori McDaniel contributed a two-RBI single, and Whitney White added three singles.

Anna Beth Franks led from the mound.

Lawrence County 5, Grissom 1: Woodard hit a three-run homer to send the Red Devils past Grissom in the Wallace State Invitational game.

Coffey finished with a double and a single, Ashton Malcolm ended with two RBIs on two hits, and Katie Burden added two singles.

Malcolm got the pitching win for Lawrence County.

Lawrence County 3, Oneonta 1: Coffey finished with a double and a single, white Kassidy Wise added a double in the Wallace State Invitational game.

Victoria Draper, Mackenzie Hill and Woodard each contributed two singles in the win.

Malcom got the pitching win for the Red Devils.

Guntersville 7, Decatur 6: Smiley and Terry each finished with a single in the Madison Academy Tournament game played Friday night.

The Red Raiders also recorded five walks in the loss.

Hatton 12, Brooks 0: Snead had a perfect game, hitting 3-3 with two RBIs in the FCA Tournament game on Friday night.

Victoria Crumpton doubled with one RBI, while Hannah Harper finished with two singles and one RBI.

Jami Hunter, Boston Claborn, Carpenter and Peebles also had hits in the game.

Snead led from the mound, striking out six.

Hatton 24, Shoals Christian 0: Peebles and Claborn both had a perfect game Friday night in the FCA Tournament, hitting 4-for-4.

Brittany Tubb, Hunter and Harper recorded two doubles apiece, while Snead and Carpenter also finished with hits.

Claborn got the pitching win, striking out five in the no-hitter.

Soccer

Athens girls 0, Guntersville 0: Tiffani Dunaway played in goal for the Golden Eagles, as Athens tied the game played at home.

Athens (3-4-2) hosts James Clemens on Monday.
