Auburn beats out Ole Miss for running back Barber
By James Crepea
Special to The Daily

AUBURN — Peyton Barber, a three-star running back from Alpharetta, Ga., flipped his commitment from Ole Miss to Auburn on Sunday, becoming the 20th commit to Gus Malzahn’s first recruiting class.

The 5-11 215-pound Barber, whose Milton high school teammate five-star defensive end Carl Lawson reaffirmed his commitment to the Tigers on Sunday, becomes the second tailback commit in Auburn’s 2013 class, joining No. 1 JUCO running back Cameron Artis-Payne who is already enrolled.

Barber's commitment was reported by multiple recruiting sites.

Barber also fills the void left by Jordan Wilkins, who decommitted two weeks ago and committed to Ole Miss late Saturday night. Four-star tailback Johnathan Ford of New Hope, a former Vanderbilt commit, is also a possible option for Auburn.
