Austin’s Walker Commits to Navy

Former Austin High football star Josh Walker has made a decision on his college destination.

Walker gave a commitment to Navy during the weekend following an official visit in Annapolis, Md.

As a senior last season, Walker was arguably the area’s top playmaker, rushing for 1,206 yards and nine touchdowns. He also caught 44 passes for 491 yards and three touchdowns.

Walker was a first-team selection on The Daily’s 2012 Class 4A-6A all-area football team, and he was an honorable mention on the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s Class 6A all-state team.

Thank you sir for your greater commitment to America.

Congratulations Josh! You are about to be exposed to a world few people get the opportunity to experience.

If you believe in yourself and have dedication and pride - and never quit, you'll be a winner. The price of victory is high but so are the rewards.

It's about time this young man gets recognition from the Decatur Daily. Also, John you are on point with your comment. It's good to go play college football but its great to go play ball, be disciplined, and serve our country. Need more men like this. Congrats Josh, represent Decatur well.

Super - Great for him. He will do well

Congratulations Josh on your appointment to the USNA and to the football team. It is great to see another Austin graduate go to Annapolis. My son graduated from Austin and USNA. You have a great future ahead for you. Good Luck.
