Bailey’s 17 push Athens in comeback

Destiny Bailey scored a team-high 17 points as Athens High overcame a 13-point halftime deficit to beat Lawrence County 63-55 Thursday night.

Alliyah Smith added 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Golden Eagles (8-9), while Jasmin Lucas contributed 11 points and 10 assists. Kaitlyn Day added 10 points for Athens.

Whitney Woodard led all scorers with 20 points for Lawrence County (13-6), while Tori McDaniel and Rachel Childress scored 10 each. McDaniel also had five assists.

Brewer 56, Arab 49: Riley Northway paced Class 5A No. 1 Brewer with 23 points and 15 rebounds as the Patriots remained perfect in Area 12 play.

Cheyenne McLemore finished with 10 points for Brewer (17-1, 4-0), while Mallerie Drinkard and Savana Flack each scored eight points.

Priceville 53, East Lawrence 51: Emillee Cunningham finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds for Priceville (7-11, 3-1 in Class 4A, Area 15).

Jada Beverly finished with 10 points for Pricevile, and Kayla Lucas grabbed 10 rebounds.

Brooke White led East Lawrence with 18 points, while Angel Bolden had 14, and Andrea Simpson added 11.

R.A. Hubbard 49, Hatton 42: Hatton led by eight at halftime but Hubbard outscored the Hornets 32-17 in the second half.

Alex Gholston led Class 1A No. 2 R.A. Hubbard with 30 points. Oresha Sharrod also reached double figures with 10 points.

Sydney Terry scored a team-high 10 points for Hatton (8-10). She also grabbed 14 rebounds.

Addie Carter scored nine points for Hatton, while Boston Claborn pulled in 10 boards, and Mariah Cantrell finished with seven assists.

Danville 46, Decatur Heritage 32: Danville (15-7) made 12 of its 14 free throws in the final period.

Charlee Anderson led Danville with 13 points, while Tara Tuck added 11.

Maddie Vinton finished with 16 points and eight rebounds for Decatur Heritage (12-7). Savanna Naylor added eight points.

West Morgan 39, Westminster Christian 32: In a Class 3A, Area 15 contest, Hannah Amos led West Morgan (6-14, 3-1) with eight points.

Jess Gonder scored a team-high 11 points for Westminster.

Falkville 56, Vinemont 28: Sydney Moore led Falkville (14-1) with 13 points. Moore also had four steals.

Patricia Kilgore contributed nine points, four rebounds, seven steals and six assists for the Blue Devils.

Boys

Priceville 51, East Lawrence 41: Malik Orr tossed in a team-high 13 points as Priceville High topped East Lawrence for a Class 4A, Area 14 win.

Priceville (10-8, 3-1 in Area 15) outscored East Lawrence 37-24 in the second half.

Luke Mason finished with 11 points for Priceville, while Hayden Prentice grabbed 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Malik Garth scored a game-high 15 points for the Eagles, while Cameron Garner added nine.

West Morgan 91, Westminster Christian 65: Brandon Roberts posted another strong performance with 51 points for West Morgan (17-4, 3-1 in Class 3A, Area 15).

Peyton Mullican and Dustin Morgan had 10 points each. Morgan also finished with 10 rebounds.

Martin Crawford led Westminster with 12 points.

East Limestone 75, Ardmore 45: Blake Tucker scored a team-high 16 points for East Limestone (12-8). Jordon Gandy added 12 points, while Devin Davis and Witt Black each chipped in 10.

Myles Noblitt led Ardmore with 14 points. Garett Miller had 11 points, and Dominic Clemons finished with 10.

Tanner 66, West Limestone 55: Jace Haggermaker finished with 23 points and 14 rebounds to lead Tanner (10-1).

Tanner carried a 33-23 lead into halftime.

Greg Maclin added 17 points for the Rattlers.

Nathaniel Adams led West Limestone (14-7) with 22 points, while Aaron McWilliams tallied 15 points.

Athens 58, Lawrence County 34: Nathaniel Potts and Trey Potts each scored 10 points as Athens cruised past Lawrence County.

Jackson Pettus added nine points for the Golden Eagles (11-7, 3-10 5A, Area 15).

Athens built a 34-15 lead by halftime.

Montel McDaniel and Donovan Wheeler led Lawrence County with six points each.
