Brewer closes in on return trip to state
From staff reports

HUNTSVILLE — Talk to the people on Brewer High’s volleyball team about goals, and they all refer to a common theme:

Getting back to the Class 5A state tournament remains their a priority.

Brewer moved one step closer to achieving that goal as the Lady Patriots swept Sylacauga 25-10, 25-7, 25-8 in front of an overflow crowd Friday during the opening round of the Class 5A North Super Regional at Von Braun Center.

Brewer advanced to today’s quarterfinals with the win and is one victory away from making a second straight trip to the state tournament. The Lady Patriots aren’t alone.

The Class 5A North Super Regional quarterfinals will have plenty of local flavor. Hartselle, Lawrence County and East Limestone won their tournament openers, too.
