can't believe that Jack Daniels is using barrels made outside Tenn. .....
Why not? Would you expect them to only use Tenn. wood to make the barrels?
John, actually JD distillery is very specific about the wood they use. I cannot recall which program it was, but I saw something on History or Discovery channel regarding the manufacturing of their barrels and they mentioned at the time 100% came from one specific source. The wood in the barrels is a big factor in the taste of their products and to keep a consistent flavor they only used the one source. I would not be surprised if the wood is brought in to make these barrels.
That source would be any place that can grow White Oak trees. They only use white oak wood for the barrels. It comes from wherever they find it, not just one source or location.
