Capital murder suspect to be arraigned

FLORENCE — A Colbert County man accused of killing his cousin during an altercation outside an east Florence residence is being arraigned this morning, courthouse officials said.

Raymond Junior Clemmons, 42, of Edison Avenue, Muscle Shoals, is charged with capital murder in the July shooting death of Jerry Lewis Ivy, 50, of Palm Street, Florence, officials said.

Clemmons was originally charged with murder, but a October grand jury increased the charge to capital murder.

Clemmons will appear in front of Lauderdale County Circuit Judge Gil Self this morning to hear the charges against him in the arraignment.
