DOA, there needs to be a 5 district enabling law before it goes to DOJ. Can't be unless requested by the City Council. This is a "Catch 22" situation.

We overwhelmingly voted to go to a council-manager form of government. No need to set a public hearing to discuss this. Submit the plan to the DOJ and let the chips fall where they may. I for one would like a definitive answer on this, not just one's "opinion" on what they think the DOJ may or may not say.

We must all agree with Teresa - wait - does that mean I will be deleted?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo.....................................

Why in Hades should taxpayers pay another $100,000 plus salary. This is a waste. We have a Mayor that can do the job, unlike Boob Stanford. Decatur has more important needs.

It is really sad that people choose to jump at the opportunity to protest against an action they know nothing about. BTW, if you're wondering what I'm talking about, you're probably at fault.

Anyways, we can easily make one of those three districts a minority district. It wouldn't be difficult, and I don't see any reason why it would be such a bad thing. The only reason our council sees such difficulty is because they see Decatur as some sort of 70s or 80s Southern town that is dominated by white politics.

It really isn't that difficult. We have all of the data, a simply GIS novice like myself could easily define a minority district that equals the other two in population; it's really not that difficult. Any of our local politicians that preach that it is difficult is just trying to stall. They're the ones that don't want the city to progress, and it's about time to change that.

All that being said, I think Don Kyle is on the good side. During his former tenure as mayor, things picked up during the final few months of his time in office, and I heralded it; however, no one noticed.

Don Kyle is the mayor for the job. I applaud him for trying to find a FINAL consensus for the City Manager issue.

Let's see, the city votes in accordance with state law, but our Council AND even our local no-newspaper don't want what the people voted to do, so, after ignoring the will of the people, they then decide to hold a farce of a public hearing then will vote AGAIN to ignore the WILL OF THE PEOPLE. What losers these morons be.
