Clay County one of last bone-dry counties in state
LINEVILLE — Clay County has about 14,000 residents, around 100 churches and not a single place where you can legally buy a beer. There’s no Bud Light in the cooler at the corner convenience … More »

This Is Something To Be Proud Of, Wouldn't It Be Something If Morgan County Was This Way

Linda. When Decatur was "dry", they just brought it in from Huntsville. Tax money just was spent somewhere else .

.

The federal government realized they couldn't make the country "dry" years ago. They just tax it now.

Linda, Just Wait Until The City Council Jacks Up Our Sales Tax Rate Again To Pay For All The Debt That We Owe In Hartselle. As For Me, I Am Outta Here In Five Years And You Can Deal With The Aftermath.

Decatur Didn't Have All That Crime, Until It Went Wet,,, Nothing Good Can Come From Alcohol

Linda, that might be what your preacher is telling you, but that is wrong. I have lived in this area of Alabama almost all my life. I am old enough to remember Blue Laws and when almost all of this area was dry, except for Huntsville.

Decatur has crime because it has a bunch of lowlife welfare recipients, who because they don't have to work for a living in order to keep a roof over their heads and food in their mouths, have plenty of time to try to make some extra money on the side by selling drugs, guns, and stealing from and terrorizing good honest people. Then you have the illegal alien population who also live off the backs of honest citizens, claiming all the welfare bennies they can, working under the table and not paying a dime for their healthcare, in taxes, or anything else. All of these leeches of society let their kids starve and go to school without a full stomach and without decent clothing, even though we have given them more than enough to support themselves and their children. And still, they want more. We don't see it much in Hartselle, because we don't have a big population of either one of these groups, because we don't have a large number of Section 8 rentals and government housing available here.

The increase in crime in Decatur is due to the fact that their city government caters to both of these groups. Why? Because they get more FEDERAL and STATE dollars in order to do so. The increase in crime in Decatur has NOTHING to do with the sale of alcohol. If you don't believe me, check it out for yourself ... do the research. The internet is a powerful thing.

The increase in crime in Decatur is caused by the increase in Harstselle & other communities also. Expect it to get worse. DRY COUNTIES ARE ALLE THE SAME: THEY EXIST ONLY DUE TO THE DISHONESTY OF PEOPLE. The federal government (years ago) told us that 98% of everyone drinks. So, if 51-65 % vote "dry", it tells us that the majority aren't voting like they act! People who do not drink & vote dry are fine, honest people, the rest of everyone should not be forced to follow their mold. The "preacher" who drinks but votes dry should be arrestable if the county was truely dry. But, alas, we changed those laws years ago.The cruelest crime is that dry counties get some state money from alcohol sales. When Decatur went legal (wet) years ago, withing 2 years, Morgan County was clamoring for "their share of the revenue".
