To The Daily: I am the owner and president of Micor Industries Inc., a small business here in Decatur. We have worked hard during the past 10 years to build our business, not for only me and my family's benefit, but for the community and just as importantly, for our employees. Our company takes the well being of the entire workforce very seriously, even though we may not be the largest employer in town.
Two years ago, our company and the well being of its workforce was put in jeopardy by an employee who chose to steal from our business. Employee theft to a small business can be devastating. Through hard work and sacrifice, we were able to overcome the loss and continue to produce our product and even grow to some extent.
I am writing to let as many as possible know how our court system stood by us while handling our case. They recognized the severity of the crimes against us and administered justice, not only by punishing the guilty but by sending a message on behalf of our employees and others in the county that stealing would not be tolerated.
