Maddie Vinton and Bekah Voss each reached double figures as Decatur Heritage Christian Academy recorded its first win over West Morgan 42-38 on Tuesday night.
Vinton had a game-high 14 points and seven rebounds for the Eagles (19-8), who led 24-18 at the half.
Voss finished with 10 points, four steals and three assists.
Krystyn Chambers led West Morgan with 10 points, while Annie Homan and Hannah Flack added seven points each.
Lawrence County 61, R.A. Hubbard 52: Rachel Childress had a game-high 19 points in the win for Lawrence County.
Tori McDaniel had 16 points for the Red Devils (20-6), while Adrian Coffey added 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Alex Gholston had 18 points in the loss for R.A. Hubbard (13-4), while Oresha Sherrod added 13 points.
Athens 56, James Clemens 36: At times it wasn’t pretty, but Stace Tedford’s team got the job done.
Paced by double-double efforts from Nathanial and Trey Potts, Tedford’s Athens Golden Eagles overcame early shooting struggles to down visiting James Clemens. The win marked 11 straight for the Eagles (19-7).
“We didn’t shoot the ball well all night,” Tedford said. “We were able to come out in the second half and get something going, though. Defensively, we were solid all night and in the second half when we were able to work the ball in to the rim we were able to get something going.”
Nathanial Potts finished with a game-high 16 points and 12 rebounds for Athens, while Trey Potts added 12 points and 11 rebounds. Neal Malone had 12 points.
“It was a struggle offensively,” Tedford said. “But our defense really opened up opportunities in the second half. Our pressure created good transition opportunities and our guys were able to get to the free throw line. The second half was definitely better than the first.”
Alfonso Johnson had 10 points in the loss for James Clemens.
Athens will continue play Friday against East Limestone.
West Morgan 68, Decatur Heritage 59: Brandon Roberts had 28 points and five assists as West Morgan improved to 22-4 with the win.
Keandre Swopes had 10 points, 15 rebounds and six blocks for the
Rebels, while Dustin Morgan added 10 points.
Nathan Lee led Decatur Heritage with 28 points, while Jacob Crews added 17.
Priceville 61, Good Hope 43: Hayden Prentice and Milik Orr each recorded double-doubles in the win for Priceville.
Prentice finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs (12-12), while Orr added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Marc McLendon had 14 points.
Andrew and Alex Cofer had 14 pionts each in the loss for Good Hope.
Lawrence County 59, R.A. Hubbard 38: Donivan Wheeler had 16 points and seven rebounds in the win for Lawrence County.
Jesse Childress added 13 points for the Red Devils (12-12).
Darian Almon had 10 points in the loss for R.A. Hubbard.
