Spring Valley Beach offers free parking. You can pay to park your car in the grassy area and bring in your coolers. You do not have to buy there food or drinks. Please do more research before comparing Spring Valley Beach to Point Mallard. You can pay $10 at SVB and park close to the lake.

Bad call for councilmen who voted for this increase.

Very bad decision! Last year pt mallard had a much better turnout than year before, however they're likely to see the opposite this year with rate increases!!! The food and drink prices are ridiculous and you still have to fight for a lounge chair!!! Coolers should be allowed in certain areas so more people could afford to visit the park

Bad increase. Our visits will be fewer. The consession prices are way too high.

The increase is designed to reduce the number of folks coming while City employees and their families continue to use the place for free. It is becoming their own personal Country Club.

Wonder if they ever considered trying to decrease the cost to operate this place.

Oh wait, this is Decatur, the city where every city dept head gets a new car to drive, and their salaries are much higher than those of private industry in the area for much more responsibility.

So Mr. no new taxes just voted to raise the cost of Decatur citizens primary recreation spot. Charles Kirby is a lying hypocrite. How many times have we heard him talk about things being hidden tax increases or back door tax increases? Way to go Kirby. Charles Kirby is a tax and spend liberal and don't let his lies fool you about this.

ONe thing about it, they can raise prices, but they can't make any money if no one goes. They could charge $30, I'm still not going!!!! So increase all you want city council, we don't have to go!!!! Then let's see what you say when you don't make enough to even operate it! Guess you'll have to lock the gates then! Will people ever learn? You need my money to stay open, I don't need yours!!!!!

Charles Kirby gets on here and reads what people has to say about the issues, but yet he goes and votes the way he chooses. Mr. Kirby, you too will face another election day. And needless to say, you can count my vote out for you!!! Yes, I live in your district!!!!

what about more chairs. We don't go because there is no where to sit. And the food prices are unreal.

If it isn't broke, why fix it? They were making a prfit, so what's the reason for an increase? Oh, You need the money to hire a consultant from Birmingham to show you how to spend the money of the old railroad station that's no necessarty.\

Renovation this old stucture is foolish or do you intend to charge admission to see it and make a whole bunch of money on that? After all the complaining about the conucilmen not doing their jobs , they were all re-elected, so quite complaing what they do now.

Kirby was not elected. Nobody ran. That won't happen again.
