Residents who typically travel across the river won’t have to look as far for food, shopping and entertainment this week as several high-profile businesses open their doors in Decatur????? I will never leave decatur again!!!!!!
yeah right
Hey Jimmy J, next time you leave Decatur.......don't come back.
This will not keep people in Decatur. Who do they think they are kidding?
Let's see the nearest Sam's Club and Costco are where? That's right Huntsville or Florence.
author says Kohl's will open Wednesday? They had big signs up Saturday that said NOW OPEN.
What the heck is a "soft" opening? Wish that had been explained.
I, for one, will be more likely to stay in town. We now have more options and a movie theater that will be just as nice as a Rave or Monoco. Some people will complain no matter what. Just move if you are so unhappy.
Still will go to Huntsville for some things, but will not have to go as much for movies anymore. Let's face it, Bridgestreet is hard to beat with all it has to offer in one place, especially for a date night. Yet, with the new theater, I can see me going somewhere like Cafe 113 and then a movie at the new theater more for date nights with the wife instead of going to Huntsville as much.
Jimmy you'd complain if you were hung with a new rope. Jesus dude, give Decatur some love for improving what we have and the new things we just got.
No one said it would be the end all for people traveling to Madison/Huntsville, just that it would lessen those trips and it will.
Also the last rumor I heard was a Sam's club was to be built out towards Priceville.
Don't foget Sweetwater is back on, so that will HELP stop money migrating to Madison/Huntsville as well.
hey michael u act like u know me!!! jesus dude lol ... hey rictard kiss my butt......

WHAT!!!!! please tell me michael and richard were there!!!!
You can open all of the new retail you want, but until you clean some of the filth off of the right of way and gutters and mow the grass Decatur still looks like a setpic tank.
The ROWs and gutters in Decatur (and the grass) are no different than what you see in Athens, Madison, Huntsville. You can't keep every place spotless all the time. HSV is just as dirty and littered as Decatur. B**tch, pi$$, moan, and complain. That's all you guys and gals do. Decatur does something right or good or beneficial, and all you all can do is whine. Good grief. Why not see the up side in this economic news.
And a "soft opening" is when a new business opens up before the "official" grand opening. It's a chance for the staff to get some practice and training without being overrun by the big crush that will show up for a grand opening. The soft opening is done more or less by word of mouth, or by invitation. They're open, they're just not advertising it yet. Lots of restaurants do it because they know when they have the grand opening it's going to be a madhouse.
