Falkville girls capture 7th win in 8 contests

Falkville High's girls beat Meek 41-29 on Friday night for their seventh win in eight games.

Patricia Kilgore had 13 points, nine steals and six assists, while Amanda Muse added 12 points. Emily Mickelson had 10 points and eight rebounds. Sydney Moore pitched in nine points.

Autumn Eddy grabbed eight rebounds, made seven steals and scored five points.

East Lawrence 55, Haleyville 36: Four players reached double figures in the win for East Lawrence, led by Brooke White, who finished with a team-high 13 points.

Aundrea Simpson had 12 points for the Eagles, while Angel Bolden added 11. Nisha Trammell scored 10.

Tori Pendley led all scorers with 16 points for Haleyville.

West Morgan 38, Hatton 33: Sydney Sanders had a game-high 17 points in the win for West Morgan.

Addie Carter had 11 points and eight rebounds in the loss for Hatton (5-4), which trailed 22-11 at the half. Sydney Terry added seven points and 11 rebounds.

Rogers 38, West Limestone 33: Kayla Carter had 10 points for West Limestone, and Shelby Clay added eight.

Boys

Athens 75, Lawrence County 30: Nathaniel Potts had 25 points and eight rebounds in the area-opening rout for Athens.

Trey Potts added 14 points and six rebounds for the Golden Eagles (3-3, 1-0), who led 48=18 at the half.

Jesse Moreno had eight points in the loss for Lawrence County.

Athens will continue play today at Hartselle.

Hartselle 42, Brewer 39: Timbo Slayton had a game-high 14 points in the win for Hartselle (2-2).

Brandon Elder had 13 points in the loss for Brewer, while Zack Steffen added eight points.

Danville 37, Hanceville 35: Patrick Doherty and Kyle Alexander each had 10 points for Danville, but it was the Hawks' relentless defense that secured the win.

Trailing late in the fourth quarter, the Hawks took charges on consecutive Hanceville possessions to regain momentum and used pressure to force Hanceville to throw up a bad last-second shot that proved to be no good.

Justin Morgan added nine points for Danville (7-4, 2-1), which trailed 17-16 at halftime.

Brontae Harris and Chris Smith each had 11 points in the loss for Hanceville.

West Morgan 58, Hatton 48: Dustin Morgan recorded his third consecutive double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 11 rebounds as West Morgan improved to 7-2 with the win.

Brandon Roberts had a game-high 24 points for the Rebels, who will continue play today against Falkville.

Leron Cooper led all Hatton scorers with 16 points. Reed Gillespie, Jake Bradford and Ty Terry each added 10 points.

West Limestone 63, Rogers 53: Kyle Casteel poured in 27 points for the winning Wildcats. Caleb McConnell pitched in 16.
