Detrick Mostella played at Austin High the past two seasons.

Former Austin High guard Detrick Mostella has made a decision on where he will continue his basketball career.

Mostella, a 6-foot-2 shooting guard, gave a commitment Monday to Oklahoma State.

Mostella picked Oklahoma State over a prestigious list of offers including Georgetown, Georgia, Mercer, Miami, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Penn State and West Virginia. Neither Alabama nor Auburn extended a scholarship offer.

Mostella, a four-star prospect according to Rivals.com, was one of the area's most prolific scorers last season as a junior, averaging 16.4 points per game while leading Austin to the Class 6A Northwest Regional final.

Mostella, the brother for former Austin stars Jay and Ricky Sears, was an all-state selection last season by the Alabama Sports Writers Association.

During the offseason, Mostella transferred to La Lumiere School — a prepatory school in La Porte, Ind. — because of concerns about whether he would be academically eligible to play in college.

“I’ve been talking to my parents and my AAU coach, and they know where they want me to go and what is the best place for me, so I am just doing it for all my people,” Mostella told Scout.com national recruiting analyst Brian Snow.

According to Scout.com, Mostella has not visited Oklahoma State but plans to take a trip to Stillwater soon.

As a sophomore during the 2010-11 season, Mostella was selected as The Daily's Class 4A-6A player of the year. He averaged 18 points and four rebounds per game.

He can commit wherever he likes. He can't get into a division one college.
