Lucy Orr, a fourth-grader, was crowned champion of the Decatur Heritage Christian Academy spelling bee competition, principal Jeremy Jones said.
Josh Burgreen was the first alternate, while Anna Whitney Chappell, Anna Akins and Hanish Edupuganti were all second alternates.
The other students who participated in the competition were first-graders Zoe Spargo and Tre’ J. Bristow; second-grader Bo Solley; third-graders Beth Trippany and Synclair Dodd; fourth-grader Juliana Hudry; fifth-graders Stratton Orr and Seaborn Chappell; sixth-grader Amelia Byars; and seventh-grader Zach Bonner.
