Authorities today halted a plan to transport barrels containing a gasoline-and-water mixture along local roads.
The barrels would have been moved on a wooden trailer pulled by a vehicle, and police and fire officials wanted more safeguards in place.
A crew had pumped the mixture from an old fuel storage tank at the former Carl's Foodmart at Sixth Avenue and Johnston Street Southeast.
A passerby smelled fumes and notified police. A crew trained and bonded to transport the materials has been called to haul away the mixture.
Check back later today for more details.

Not real bright!
I guess the more fumes they inhaled the better their idea seemed. "Hey yall watch this"
Gas sale at Lacon Trade Day!
Working in the office near by - we could smell the fumes inside the office. Don't think there was much water in that mix.
