here we go............

Put the money to usetowards the future (new school) instead of the past (Old Railroad station) The future will show wasteful spending on the station. Another place that will need maintenance, utitlites, etc. And who's going to pay the taxes on it?

Yes both School Buildings are over 50 years old, but we just build a new building at Austin High School. Mr Nickols has been part of Austin High for many years, as well as being on the Decatur School Board. The City Council need to listen to the Superintentend. It always seams that if the City Council dont get its way, Specialy Council Man Billy Jackson, nobody going to get help. Lets speack with the Students at both High Schools and talk to them about the Classroom and schools that they attend.

City Council will spend money on what they wont, so let the School system spend the money on what they need, a NEW HIGH SCHOOL. Thank you

The City Council needs to be recruiting new businesses to the area which will raise tax revenue. I'm not talking about restaurants either. New manufactoring jobs like the ones discussed in Cullman are vital in growing your tax base. Decatur the city, will be a shell of itself in the next 10 years if something different is not done. The city is dwindling and nobody wants to admit it. Madison, Hartselle and even Priceville will squeeze out Decatur in the next 10 years.

Right ......Here we go, Nichols wants new school...we will get new schools. Concrete and mortar do not make good schools. The teaching staff does, the board of education does, but Decatur must keep up appearances. Here we go is right!

Actually Thor, good parents make good schools. Look at the number of students on free/reduced lunch at each DCS school and then compare the test scores with each. I have personally seen and know kids on free lunch that live in two story houses and while parents drive Cadillac escapades with those nice fancy rims on it. Point of the previous sentence: Priorities and choices.

Escalades*

So Kirby wants to tax high income earners. He is a socialist who wants to redistribute income.

More taxes. This song & dance is so old. NO NEW TAXES!!!

Excellent point Chris..

So basically this article is getting up prepared for the news that they want to raise our sales tax from 9% to 10%.
