James E. Hilton, left, and Cody Lee Taylor face drug charges after their arrest Wednesday in Southwest Decatur.

Two Decatur men were arrested Wednesday on drug charges.

Sheriff Ana Franklin said Cody Lee Taylor, 24, of 604 Denise Drive S.W. faces charges of first-degree possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of a controlled substance (hallucinogenic mushrooms) and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He remained in jail this morning in lieu of $10,300 bail.

Agents also arrested James E. Hilton, 45, of 3926 Ryan Drive S.W., at Taylor’s residence and charged him with first-degree possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

Franklin said agents later executed a search warrant for Hilton’s address and he was charged with a second count of first-degree possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Hilton remained in jail this morning in lieu of $15,300 bail.

Franklin said agents first received complaints of marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms being sold from Taylor’s residence.

“Then our agents, over the past several months, made controlled drug purchases from the residence,” Franklin said. “During an execution of a search warrant, agents located marijuana and mushrooms packaged for resale, along with drug paraphernalia.”

Franklin said at Hilton’s Ryan Drive home agents located a half pound of marijuana, an assortment of controlled substance pills, drug sale paraphernalia and over $1,600 in currency.
