Looks like Obama's stimulus money is doing a lot of good things in Hartselle.

But does anybody think, he will get any credit for it ?

We still have Gov, Bentley beholding to Grover Norquist . and his stupid signing of his Pledge .

That only hurts this State.its teachers, firemen, and and policemen. .

Teachers haven't received a raise in over 6 years.

Thousands are out of work. Colleges are turning them out in droves with no jobs in site.

Plus their student loan interest rates just doubled at the start of this month.

Thanks to the GOP..

Find another site to post your political comments on, and by the way stimulus money has nothing to do with this high school and it has not helped Hartselle.

Patrick, go drink some coffee then read the story again... "The school is being funded with $22.1 million in federal stimulus money and $18 million the Hartselle City Council borrowed." It's right there in the last paragraph. While I don't play the politcal game the school is being built with help from the gov't through the stimulus program initiated by our president. It is helping Hartselle and it has helped US citizens a couple of years ago when we all received a break in the amount of taxes that were taken out of our paychecks each pay period. NOW, with that said, my belief is that in the long run the stimulus program has hurt our country by increasing our debt. I think it's too early to tell how much of an affect there will be either good or bad.

As for the field house, I think every female athlete should be raising cane for being left out of the school's plan to contruct a facility that will be used by the boys only. I know without a doubt the school would never build a $2M facility for the girls only and leave the boys to use the old girls gym.

Maybe we should check into TITLE 9....really it took how long for football to win a state championship..if female sports had half the support what a difference it would make...so softball will have to travel to the old high school to practice? Mrs. Sittason you have 2 girls coming up you should be helping the girls out (guess since your daughter is cheerleader you don't care)...but you have nieces that have played & play softball now....boy I can't wait till we get an elected school board...time to clean house...

You need to put some stimulus money in the class rooms, so these family's with 3 or 4 children don't have to shell out for the supplies that are needed in the classrooms.

Girls always get left out when it comes to sports. There are discriminating laws against this. Hartselle City Schools are setting themselves up for a lawsuit!!!!!

$2 million for something that will only be used by a handful of jocks.

Nice to see you have your priorities in line there, Hartselle. /sarcasm

If they cant build a field house that can be used by all sports then it should not be built at all. I know football is the straw that stirs the financial drink but to totally exclude all girls teams from its use is not only wrong but also probably in violation of Title IX. I hope some extra money is in the budget for legal fees. Between the raise issue and this is it any wonder the people voted for an elected school board

Gail, bash me how you want, federal stimulus is intented for creating jobs. I will stand by saying Hartselle has gained nothing from this money but a new school that the citizens will be paying for through another generation. We needed an updated infrastructure before a high school (sewer, road repair, etc.). If you like sales tax increase then you are spot on, next year another 1 percent.

The city council lied when they ran for office and pledged no new taxes. They lied again when they promised the school would be built within the 40 million budget. I will not vote for any of the liars. All the money involved is tax payer money. Like Obama they love spending money they don't have to pull out of their pocket. City governments love bond issues and spending money that other citizens will payback just to get re-elected.

Patrick,

The $22.1 Million in stimulus money was a low interest loan.
