A Lawrence County man authorities said accidentally shot himself in the leg with a shotgun remained at Huntsville Hospital in fair condition Monday.
Terry Parker was airlifted to the hospital after the gun went off shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday at a home on Lawrence County 317 near Trinity, Sheriff Gene Mitchell said.
Initial reports indicated the family member was the one holding the gun, but Mitchell said both the family member at the scene and Parker, interviewed at the hospital before he underwent surgery, told investigators the gun went off after Parker dropped it.
A hospital spokeswoman said Parker was being treated in a regular room.
