Leaders must be unified
Depending on the results of an Oct. 9 runoff election, either Don Kyle or Carl Cole will be the next mayor of Decatur. Both can handle the job. Kyle, 62, was mayor from 2004 to 2008 before … More »

I am eager to see who will serve as council president. A split term worked well over the past four years. Reeves served two years and Hammon is serving as President the final two years. The same plan might benefit the city over the next four years. You can bet that Hammon, Anders and Kirby will begin these discussions soon, if they haven't already. I would be happy with a split between either one of them. If Ard wins, he will have a learning curve. So, he would not be effective serving in that role, at this time. Jackson's inability to cooperate, i.e. give and take, will prevent him from serving and will continue to strangle progress in his district.

They haven't worked together in eight years why would you think that they would start now?

This is just a repeat of the last eight years, nothing has changed.

Decatur is the Twilight Zone or I'm in the movie Ground Hog Day either one is a good analogy.

The you are not paying attention. Things have worked well lately. Strange that so many claim they have an idea what is going on when they never attend.....!

Crooked Anders will be Council Pres. He has made so many back-room deals and now Hammond must pay him back. Kirby is just happy to be at lunch with the cool (??) kids, so he'll do what he is told by them or by Dwight Jett (his "Mini-Me"). BUT, it's ALL worth it to be rid of LAME-DUCK DON STANDFORD! #finally #gethimout #worstmayorever

Charles, folks can read the council minutes and that speaks volumes. Apparently you are amongst the group that likes the direction the council takes, we will see how that works out for ya in 4 years, unfortunately Decatur will end up the worse off for it if history is any indication, but if you don't want much you should be really excited cause that's what you'll get, unfortunately so will the rest of us!
