Morgan County Commission Chairman Ray Long reported a healthy $1.7 million reserve fund to a room full of elected officials, educators and business leaders at the annual State of the County breakfast at Turner-Surles Community Center today.
Long also reported a 3.5 percent increase in sales tax collections over last fiscal year and ending 2012 with $41.8 million in net assets. He said the numbers indicate a recovery from the county’s budget crisis, which forced 10 percent decreases in all county departments.
