If the rape was reported in April to DHR why wasn't he indicted then? DHR is supposed to protect these children.10 months is not acceptable. Think what this child & her family have been going thru knowing he was free for all that time & could repeat the act. DHR needs to be held accountable for this delay.

DHR is a JOKE, they will not do anything about a convicted rapist, who was in prison but got a new trial on a technicallity getting visitation with his son and daughter, when he RAPED his STEP DAUGHTER, and beat and raped his wife. DHR has active cases on all of these children, his children saw him beat and rape their mother and JUDGE THOMPSON will not even have a hearing on why the CONVICTED RAPIST should not have unsupervised visitation with his young children, until he goes on trial AGAIN for 2 different rapes. Would DHR workers or JUDGE THOMPSON want their children or grandchildren around this CONVICTED RAPIST? The only ones with any rights are the CRIMINALS!

The justice system is so worried about the criminals rights, that they bend over backwards, and don't give a rat's butt about the victims, and what is in the best interest of the children! The wife has been trying to get a divorce from the CONVICTED RAPIST for almost 3 years, and it has went to 3 different judges, and nobody wants to do anything about it!!!

You people give DHR WAY too much credit. First of all, DHR cannot remove children from dangerous settings without a Court's order. Yes, they may know a child is in danger, but cannot DO anything until they get a Judge to sign an order allowing them to do something. Second, DHR does NOT establish timeframes for prosecution of child abusers, child molesters or anyone else, this includes the length of time it takes to invite and select a grand jury (a group of citizens chosen through the jury selection process). Timeframes are established by the Court based on the law and circumstances, just as they are for private cases. Finally, DHR does NOT hand down indictments. DHR presents a situation to the District Attorney who either files charges, or not - if so, the case goes before the grand jury - facts of the case (along with several other cases) are heard by the grand jury; the jury either indicts the person or not - then, a warrant is issued for their arrest.

In a nutshell, DHR has no control over the length of time between indictment and trial. There may be plenty to complain about with DHR, but you lose credibility in doing so when you blame them for things beyond their control.

Our prayers are with the girl and her parents. Also included in our prayers is that judge Glenn Thompson resigns and does a great favor to the citizens of Decatur. Sometimes judges are elected by name which is easy to remember at the voting booths thatn their intelligenece.

What is wrong with our society is that we have such LIGHT EASY punishments for these scumbags. The other problem is that this child rapist will be PROTECTED in jail by not putting him in with the regular population. They know what will happen to pedophiles if they are put in the regular population so they won't do it. They protect them.
