I've been to the Farmers market the past few weekends and there are several (like 10-15) empty spaces for vendors.
.
During their peak time in July or so parking can get tight, but people can always park in the DECATUR DAILY parking lot. I mean it's not like it's in use on Saturday.
.
You move it way out, and the farmers will notice a cut down in people stopping by. The reason they get such business now is that they are where you have to cross the tracks. People will stop by there. I can't see the traffic being the same if they move it up in North West.
" If it ain't broke ,don't fix it ",applies here. Too many problems in Decatur to worry about the size of the existing market .Now the election in November is troublesome .
If you move it to either mentioned location, you are putting it in a run-down dangerous part of town.
M.....it's not being moved way out. It's only a couple blocks away.
Undersized / underutilized farmers markets are routinely point to as reason why industries fail to locate in an area.
We need an impressive farmers market - regardless of the cost.
The sales tax generated by the market is huge and Decatur doesn't need to lose it.
