Sad that IB is being eliminated. It is Decatur's drawing card. Wish education didn't have to suffer; when it does the whole community suffers. Maybe something can be worked out. We need IB!
Education is not suffering. When IB programs were implemented, money was drawn from other succesful programs. Math and reading initiative programs should never take a back seat to IB programs. Look at which one(s) are more likely to impact "at risk" students and test scores! IB only helps the top 3% or so of students. Math and reading initiative has a much greater chance of keeping kids out of prison and test scores up!
My kids are that top 3%.
So should the 97% suffer for the 3% ???
over rated, just a glorified advance degree
IB is not being looked at for elimination. It is the Middle Years Program. The IB Diploma Program is for 11th and 12th graders and is not being considered to be cut.
