MUSCLE SHOALS — A Muscle Shoals police officer is on administrative leave, accused of shooting and killing a deer on federal property while on duty over the weekend.
Muscle Shoals Police Chief Robert Evans confirmed today that an officer is placed on administrative leave with pay while the shooting is under investigation. Evans declined to release details of the incident or the officer’s name.
Authorities identified the officer as Greg Scoggins.
Tennessee Valley Authority spokesman Scott Brooks confirmed the shooting took place Sunday morning on TVA property, specifically on the TVA Reservation near Second Street.
“The Alabama Department of Conservation is handling the case, and we have turned everything over to them,” Brooks said.

What a Dumb ......Person.
What a Dumb ......Person.
Dumber than someone that double posts???
So the guy kills a animal while on duty! Then he gets to process the dear on our dime and to top it off probably consume it on our dime as well. Go Figure.
Hey Nat, so I hit the button twice...I made a mistake....but if you want the real definition of dumb..take a pause and look in the mirror pal. That just wasn't called for buddy boy!
Not necessarily so, Casinokid. In many wild game enforcement issues, the "kill" is confiscated; and rightfully so. Many stats will show that wildlife management officers are much more likely to conduct enforcement while the "purps" are armed than regular law enforcement officers. This was extremely bad judgment on the officer's part and he will be lucky to maintain his job, especially if he used his municiple weapon.
