On March 7, moviegoers will have a new silver screen option.
The 12-screen Carmike Cinemas movie theater will open at 7 p.m that day at Decatur Mall on Beltline Road. The new Carmike can accommodate 2,300 guests in stadium seating and will feature a state-of-the-art BigD format auditorium, the first in Alabama. The grand opening will include a special presentation of Disney's "Oz: The Great and Powerful" at 9 p.m.
"Alabama has become one of our top five states, with 13 theaters at year-end, including six properties we recently acquired from Rave Review Cinemas last November," Carmike President and CEO David Passman said. "In addition to our new entertainment complex at Decatur Mall, we have another theater that will soon begin construction in Opelika."
