It's a joke! Not a funny one mind you!
Three laned Beltline without overpasses and access roads is a joke too!
No common sense in play on this extended project!
I agree with you, Kenneth. They should have put in overpasses and access roads.
they're writing tickets supposedly for worker safety, funny how they're writing them when workers are not even on job on sundays, Decatur has it's little sped traps taking our hard earned money to support their vices, another is hwy 20 towards huntsville
TWO YEARS?!?!?!
outrageous! we have to deal with this frustration and its speed traps for TWO YEARS?
i cant stand this city sometimes.
I don't go to the Beltline to shop anymore because it is an unsafe road. I have had to go to the professional buildings down Danville Road. It was a pain figuring out how to get to the offices.
I cannot remember the last time I bought anything on the Beltline or went to a restaurant out there. It would be too confusing after dark. Also, I have heard so many people say they got tickets for going 2 or 3 miles over the speed limit. Yet there don't seem to be any speed limit signs visible.
And why do they have to stop left turns anyway? Isn't it more dangerous to have all the motorists craning their necks looking for a way to their destinations?
Why shut off a 2 1/2 mile trek? Why not do one mile and then the other mile when finished? Decatur already has too many right turns only. Most people leave Cracker Barrel on the front service road trying to get to Beltline, only to be turned down Sandlin road and then turning into Hobby Lobby parking lot to turn around and go back to the traffic light at Beltline. I'm surprised no one has gotten killed walking through Hobby Lobby's parking lot with all the through traffic that goes through there at high rates of speed.
Here in New Jersey, a highway called Route 3 around the meadowlands sports complex we have been having construction widening the highway for at least the past 5 years. No end in sight. The highway is dangerous. Narrow lanes, crooked lanes, high volume traffic, gridlock. It makes you think maybe there is some type of a advantage money wise for someone by making these construction project go on and on for years.
I hope the Beltline does not go on for 5 or 6 more years like Route 3.
For $13 million they could have hired a real road building contractor.
They have frontage roads but "crack-head engineering" keeps traffic off of them.
Where are the cops? Definitely not present any time I have traveled the Beltline lately. I am sick to death of being tailgated or about run off the road with idiots doing about 50 mph in a 25! I guess they don't care or have much more money than me because I certainly can't afford a ticket, especially if it is doubled, nor the increase in insurance right now.
After this 2 year project is completed , the next one will be to build overpasses and we are doing exactly what Huntsville did on the parkway. What good is building three lanes that stop at traffic lights that bottleneck traffic ?
I go the back roads and then to Hartselle. it is less stressful.
William,
Where are you getting that information???
