Officer who shot student carried other weapons

MOBILE (AP) — A University of South Alabama campus police officer was carrying not just his gun but also pepper spray and a baton the night he shot and killed an unarmed freshman student, the school said Friday.

University spokesman Keith Ayers said officer Trevis Austin, a four-year veteran of the department in his first police job, was armed with all three weapons when he walked outside the police station with his gun drawn to confront Gil Collar. Collar, 18, was naked when he banged on police department windows in the pre-dawn hours last Saturday.

Authorities said Collar was on LSD when he moved aggressively toward the officer.

Surveillance video showed the student never tried to grab the officer’s weapon or got within 4 or 5 feet of Austin.

Test

clear case of officer that messed up and man lost his life. the officer is not above the law and must pay for his mistake.

Quick to judge aren't we? He was doped up on LSD. We weren't there and don't know what he was doing or how he was threatening officer. All we know is why the Obama loving liberal media wants us to know. Let the law do there jobs.

Where is the outrage? Where is Jesse Jackson?

If the officer was white and the victim white, how many front page articles would we see!!!!

Wait a second, you can't even determine race from the article ... hmmmm

If a white officer went outside the police office and shot a naked black student, how would the media react?

Seriously - I don't think this was racially motivated, but why does the media spin one story one way and another story another.

If Obamie had a son
