Boys basketball player of the week
Nathaniel Potts, Athens: Combined for 50 points and 21 rebounds in wins against Hartselle and Lawrence County. He also scored six in a loss to Austin, but missed most of the second half after a hard collision on the floor.
Girls basketball player of the week
Riley Northway, Brewer: For the third straight week, Northway takes the area’s top honor. The talented Brewer center has been a nightly double-double threat, posting two in consecutive games against Hartselle and Scottsboro. She has averaged more than 20 points in Brewer’s last four games.

Brandon Roberts, West Morgan: Combined for 70 points in consecutive games, pouring in 40 against Falkville and 30 in a win against rival Danville.
Malique Elliott, Austin: Delivered a strong performance in a win against Athens, scoring 15 points while grabbing several rebounds.
Girls basketball
Takisha Jordan, Austin: Scored 12 points and forced several turnovers in a win against Athens.
Rachel Childress, Lawrence County: Recorded a double-double against Hatton, scoring 26 points with 13 rebounds.
