We are surprised why?

Wow, Unemployable Kirby has really turned his back on the citizens of Decatur. He is now approaching the apex of "self-made-elitist". Before you know it, he'll be voting to raise taxes! How far he has fallen (gravity is not his friend).

Crooked Anders is just plain predictable, unfortunately.

GREED will not prosper......Billy Jackson has a valid point. A family of 4 or 5 will think twice before visiting Point Mallard at this rate.

And how will this increase tourism?!

This is simple. If you want to go, pay the bucks. If you don't... then DON'T Go.

.

If you want to go a bunch, Pt Mallard sells Annual Passes for $50 each one day only in the spring of each year. Just buy one of those and quit yore' bitchin'.

I would not go if it was free.

HALF PRICE DAYS! Look into guys............................just saying, GOSH

in my book increasing government revenue on the backs of citizens is a tax. So Kirby is raising taxes. He's a lying hypocrite. Nail him up.

Politically speaking here! Concerning our city! I would not go if it were free! Chilllllll

raising taxes? This is aimed at the people using the park. It's a usage fee. Not a tax. The tax is the sales tax that they add to the price of admission.

.

Now a good example of tax is tax money is spent to build $4milllion worth of Lazy River and other things. The people of Decatur pay for that through various taxes, instead of Pt Mallard being self sufficient like any other private business in town.

I can understand the current and retired workers at no charge....maybe even a discount price but why in the Sam Hill does DU get in at no charge?

Unbelievable! Too expensive? Go on half price days. PM has been used by our chamber and other organizations to attract new business, attract new residents, not to mention the "perk" so many longtime citizens (many who are complaining here) have used for years. The lazy river is long overdue as most water parks already have them. I'd love to know ... what are you complainers are doing to better this city? Yeah, I thought so. NADA!

also, I can't believe Hammon is siding with Jackson! If they want PM to be a recreational facility, then treat it as such and stop whining about how much it costs to operate. I havent heard any complaints about how much it costs to operate the soccer fields...oh wait, that's because they bring in millions of dollars in trackable economic impact. Something the waterpark can't do because people usually just travel there for the day. Do your homework people. Geeze.

For once, I agree with Mr. Jackson. As a former season pass holder for the last 6 years, WHAT does PM offer season pass holders? Nada....unless you count the gate that opens at 10:05, staffed by people who don't even look at the passes, and closes at 1pm, so you have to go out the other gate. No coupons, no refillable cups, no privileged parking (all things that White Water and Six Flags season pass holders get). We will NOT be getting season passes again this year. We will be going to Hartselle :)

So, if the goal is to run off the local citizens and cater to visitors, well done. I personally know about 8 families that did not get PM passes last year and went to Hartselle.....for numerous reasons.
