Boys basketball player of the week

Brandon Roberts, West Morgan: The talented West Morgan guard continues to pile up incredible scoring numbers. He poured in 48 points in a win against West Limestone. He also scored 34 points against Brindlee Mountain and 28 against Danville.

Girls basketball player of the week

Riley Northway, Brewer: Recorded double-doubles in consecutive games, helping the Patriots beat two Class 6A opponents. The junior center scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a 57-53 win against Austin, leading Brewer to a tournament title at Danville. She also scored 25 points and had 10 rebounds in a win against Grissom.

Boys basketball

Nathaniel Potts, Athens: The Golden Eagles’ double-double machine played strong in a win against rival East Limestone, scoring 20 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.

Jordon Gandy, East Limestone: The East Limestone guard continues to put up strong scoring numbers, accounting for 35 points in two games. He scored 19 in a loss against Athens and 16 in a win against East Lawrence.

Everette Mayes, Austin: Scored 15 points with seven assists in Austin’s 68-66 season-opening loss to Sparkman.

Girls basketball

Rachael Diamond, East Limestone: Combined for 33 points in consecutive games, helping the Indians improve to 8-1 on the season. She scored 21 in a win against rival Athens and 12 against East Lawrence.

Gracie George, Danville: Made seven 3-pointers and finished with 24 points in a win against rival West Morgan.

Tyra Johnson, Austin: The freshman accounted for 33 points in two tournament games at Danville, and followed with a nine-point performance against Sparkman.
