Prep roundup: Austin, Brewer, Lawrence Co. in Hawks semis

Meagan Hamilton nailed three 3-pointers, finishing with 18 points as Austin High pulled away in the second half to beat Oneonta 57-49 on Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the Danville Lady Hawks Classic.

Austin advances to play Lexington in the semifinals. Lawrence County and Brewer play in the other semifinal today.

Austin (2-0) carried a two-point cushion into halftime, but outscored Oneonta 36-30 after the break.

Tyra Johnson scored 19 points for Austin, while Takisha Jordan tossed in 11. Katie Speegle added 10 points for the Black Bears.

Destany Elliot scored 23 for Oneonta.

Brewer 68, Good Hope 35: Brook Childers scored 14 points and Cheyenne McLemore added 12 as Brewer advanced past Good Hope.

Brewer (4-0) carried a 15-point cushion into halftime before outscoring Good Hope 33-15 in the final two quarters.

Savana Flack scored 11 points for Brewer, while Rheagan Harvel added 10 points with six steals.

Kayla Tillman led Good Hope with 12 points.

Brewer 75, East Lawrence 24: Riley Northway poured in 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds, leading Brewer past East Lawrence.

Emily Oden scored 13 points, while Skylar George added 11.

Martavia Lucious led East Lawrence with 14 points.

Lawrence County 51, Decatur 42: Rachel Childress paced Lawrence County with 22 points as the Red Devils (4-0) advanced into the tournament semifinals.

Whitney Woodard scored 11 points for Lawrence County, while Kheala Roberts finished with nine points and seven rebounds.

Mariah Mort led Decatur (2-3) with 13 points, while Constance Steele added 11.

Led by Steele, Decatur beat Danville 41-26 in the tournament opener.

Lawrence County 66, Cold Springs 54: Childress canned 27 points to lead Lawrence County.

Coffey finished with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Woodard scored 13. Tori McDaniel added 12 points with six assists and six steals.

Haley Freeman led Cold Springs with 16 points.

Lexington 61, Priceville 44: McKenzie Parker finished with 13 points for Priceville in the loss.

Alex Moore scored nine points and grabbed eight rebounds for Priceville (2-2), while Jada Beverly tossed in nine points.

Decatur Heritage 46, Elkmont 24: Bekah Voss paced Decatur Heritage with 11 points and six rebounds.

Savanna Naylor added nine points and two rebounds for Decatur Heritage (5-2).

Brittany Carter led Elkmont with 10 points.

Boys basketball

Lawrence County 62, Brewer 53: Donivan Wheeler led Lawrence County with 11 points, while Logan Coan added 10.

Montel McDaniel and Jesse Childress scored eight points each for Lawrence County.

Coty Benitez led Brewer with 24 points, while Brandon Elder added 14 points.
