Judging by her answers, she knows nothing about how a city planning department works. I believe that she genuinely cares for the City of Decatur, but she has not been able to prove that she is any more capable than Don Kyle or Don Stanford. I appreciate her passion for Decatur (and I wish that there were more like her), but she really needs to learn that you cannot compare experience in Cullman to what you MIGHT be able to do in Decatur.

I'm usually not a naysayer, but I have got to say that zoning ordinances aren't so easily understood as she makes them seem.

First, I bet if you talked with City Employees, and they are under a gag order not to talk, they would not be thrilled to have her at city hall. Also, the embezzler was under her department and supervision when the embezzlement occurred. Ms. Busbey failed to implement sound accounting controls to prevent this from happening. There should have been good checks and balances in place. She can blame others all day long, but she had a responsibility in what happened. She should have been fired over it. Look to other candidates to lead Decatur to the a better future.

The voter took one woman out of the kitchen and put her in the Morgan County sheriff's office and now look at the mess she's in. You want to take another one out of the kitchen and have her mess up the city of Decatur???

I think Gail Busby would make a great mayor for the city. She has worked with multiple mayors, seen the good, bad and ugly. She has also seen what works and what doesn't. I to know a majority of city employees. The only ones that I know that do not want her in this position are the ones that are afriad for their positions.

Gail was one of the things that didn't work. She just got away with it for a very long time.

Her sex has nothing to do with the job, or her qualifications. The fact that Ms. Fletcher embezzled a large sum over a long time, in Gail's office, has everything to do with it.

Most city employees I know - and I do knew several - would be appalled to have her back as their boss. She would use the office like a despot to take revenge on her perceived enemies. And Charles is right - it's the chamber of commerce's job, and the economic development office's job, to recruit business. That's why those offices were formed. The city is already contributing to their services - why pay more people to do the same job?
