Mary, your sentence should read, "Proponents of expansion, primarily Democrats in the Legislature........" Your choice of the word, "including," leads the reader to believe Democrats are but one part of a larger group. The proposed expansion enjoys little, if any, Republican support. You are misleading the public. If this is a deliberate effort, your transparent approach lacks even elementary sophistication and will not fool the local readership. On the other hand, giving you the benefit of the doubt, you may be an honest person and simply a poor reporter.
