ATHENS — Seven suspects were arrested Thursday after law enforcement discovered a meth lab at a trailer on U.S. 72, Limestone Sheriff Mike Blakely said.

Blakely said officers from the Sheriff’s Department and Athens police executed a search warrant at 37-year-old Crystal Kay Gunter’s residence at 10272 U.S. 72. Blakely said the seven suspects ran inside, and officers followed them.

Officers found evidence of a meth lab, including a funnel with chemical residue, Blakely said. The sheriff said Gunter also had a small amount of marijuana and muscle relaxer pills on her person. She was charged with second-degree manufacturing of a controlled substance, second-degree illegal possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance. Her bonds total $31,000.

The other six suspects were charged with second-degree manufacturing of a controlled substance, which carries a bond of $25,000. They are:

  • Donna Jean Jackson, 55, of 3810 Richmond Road in Petersburg, Tenn.
  • Michael Scott Holland, 30, of 113 Bold Springs in McCuin, Tenn.
  • William Christopher Garner, 32, of 7927 Snake Road, Athens
  • Andrew Joseph Darmer, 27, of 23760 Norman Lane, Elkmont
  • Jason Evans Brunning, 34, of 465 Old Finger Road in Henderson, Tenn.
  • Staci Renee Stong, 36, of Piney Chapel Trailer Park, Athens

No wonder we need bigger County jails.

we need a jail just to hold the trash in our neighborhood , much less the county

They all look stoned. Aren't they all fine expamples of mankind?

A sad looking bunch.

I wonder how many food stamps and tax dollars this bunch blows through?? That meth has shrunk their heads.

What this country needs is stiffer laws and stiffer punishments! If after the first time they go through rehab and they do it again, they need TIME and not a slap on the wrist. The road gang needs to be put back in place and make them work to pay back the county. Until they know what they will face and know they are not going to get a free ride, things will never, ever change!!
