A winter weather advisory is no longer in effect for most of north Alabama, including Morgan, Limestone and Lawrence counties.
Forecasters predict increasing clouds and highs in the low 40s across the Tennessee Valley through the afternoon.
Decatur police spokesman Lt. John Crouch said officers worked six separate vehicle accidents related to icy conditions earlier today when temperatures were colder.
Crouch asked motorists to be cautious on overpasses, bridges and other elevated roadways that could be icy.
The temperature at 9 a.m. was 30 degrees at the National Weather Service's Huntsville office, and the early morning chill caused ice to form on some overpasses and other elevated roadways.
