Without building a police station annex and a new fire station over there, they can't keep one promise made about improved response times. This will mean more police and fire personnel. All of this means more cost to the city taxpayers. How are the few doxen home0owners over there going to pay for all of that? They're not. This is just a pay-off to the police and firefighters' unions!
First, Calhoun has it's own police force, Decatur will be back-up...second the Decatur city limits is just across he street. Has been fo years and there has been no problem. Third Decatur Fire and Police can get there within minutes as they have been for years where as it takes the volunteer agencys in Limestone longer. Across the street from Decatur, closer to Decatur. DUH!
Not so, FIRST, we already do responses north & east of the river. While budgets are always an issue, what percent of Calhoun students are Decatur residents and don't we owe them some security? Future access to annexation is also an issue. It makes the next property easier to annex. Ask your city councilmen to vote yes on this. Also, isn't this the same thing county residents who live near cities do? They get the city insurance rate without living in the city. In this case, the deal makes sense.
