To The Daily: It’s been a while since anyone who reads The Decatur Daily has read about anything from the Get Rid of Waste and Litter organization.
Although we do not exist anymore, I am still of the same mindset.
I am so proud of the recycling center in Morgan County. It took 20 years of pleading and begging to finally get a center.
When I started the recycling program at our church, Westminster Presbyterian, I always had hope that the folks here would catch on and help save our environment. Finally, it happened. Thank you.
With all that is going on in Decatur as far as the beautification of the city, I think we in Morgan County have the greatest opportunity to go all the way. We need to seize the opportunity to go even further to improve the county. We need to ban plastic from the landfill, ban plastic grocery bags and also need to find a way to recycle glass.
It would be great if it could be crushed and put into concrete to pour walls and driveways, and used for paving roads.
Decatur and Morgan County need to be known as places for the future and not the past.
To The Daily: While trekking through the avenues of the land of the free and the home of the brave, I’ve noticed something of late: Atheism is gaining momentum. Normally, I wouldn’t cut anyone down for their beliefs (they’re free to believe what they want), but when you have a group of atheists worldwide who have a non-belief in God, and they want to change America into an atheist country, then I have a problem.
Take a look at small-town America, where you can’t say a prayer in schools, before a sporting event, and sometimes you can’t even say the Pledge of Allegiance. They even want to take “In God we trust” off our currency.
If you think America is riddled with criminals, cheats, thieves and perverts, just think what it would be like if this country was godless.
It’s always mystified me how people cannot believe in God.
