Tanner runs to regionals

Kelsey Houston’s scoring propelled Tanner into the Class 2A Northwest Regional.

Houston scored a game-high 24 points as the Rattlers coasted past Phil Campbell 64-33 Thursday in the Northwest Sub-Regional.

Tanner (13-16) advances to the Class 2A Northwest Regional semifinals Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville.

Sydney Houston finished with eight points for the Rattlers.

Bethany Cook led Phil Campbell with 15.

Tanner built on its upset win over top-seeded Lexington in the Area 15 tournament final and led Phil Campbell 25-15 at halftime.

Brewer 60, Boaz 33: Riley Northway recorded a double-double, finishing with 16 points and 15 rebounds to help send the Patriots (30-1) past Boaz.

Brewer advances to the Class 5A Northeast Regional at Jacksonville State.

Emily Oden finished with 13 points for Brewer, while Savana Flack tossed in 11. Cheyenne McLemore added eight points and six steals.

Athens 47, Cullman 42: Destiny Bailey scored a game-high 15 points for Athens (16-14). Jasmin Lucas added 14 points, eight assists and four rebounds. Allyah Smith grabbed 13 boards.

Morgan Smith and Blair Nall scored 10 points apiece for Cullman (17-11).

Athens trailed 31-26 at the start of the fourth quarter. Bailey connected on a 3-pointer that sparked a 14-0 Athens run late in the period.

Danville 59, Cordova 38: Syndi Shelton led Danville (25-8) will with 12 points. Jesse Oliver had 11 points and seven rebounds. Gracie George also scored 11.

Hanna McLemore and Jess Willingham scored 10 apiece for Cordova (17-16).

Lauderdale County 74, West Morgan 41: Sydney Sanders scored a team-high 17 points for West Morgan. Sydney Houston added eight.

Emma Wallen scored 21 points for Lauderdale County. Carlee Brown had 11.

West Limestone 60, Priceville 45: Shelby Clay and Kayla Carter led West Limestone with 18 and 16 points, respectively. Autumn Bates chipped in with 11.

Emilee Cunningham had 17 points and seven rebounds for Priceville (11-20).

Boys Soccer

Austin 3, Albertville 1: Austin improved to 3-0 with the win.

Johnathon Ramirez, Irving Blanco and Dalton Crosley scored a goal apiece.
