HUNTSVILLE — The quarterfinals of the Class 5A North Super Regional have plenty of local flavor.
Brewer, Lawrence County and East Limestone won their tournament openers today, moving within one win of a state tournament appearance.
Hartselle plays its opener against Center Point at 12:45 p.m. at the Von Braun Center.
In the Class 3A tournament, Danville advanced past Susan Moore 3-0, while West Morgan was eliminated 3-1 by Plainview.
In Class 1A, Athens Bible advanced to the quarterfinals with a 3-1 win against Brilliant.
Brewer won its opener with ease, sweeping Sylacauga 3-0. The Lady Patriots play John Carroll on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
East Limestone swept Pinson Valley 3-0 in its tournament opener, while Lawrence County beat Walker 3-1. East Limestone plays Lawrence County on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., with the winner clinching a spot in the state tournament.
