RUSSELLVILLE — Police said a routine traffic stop to ask for information ended up with the man being arrested on drug charges.
Martin “Bop” Hill, 42, 1013 S. Washington Ave., Russellville, is charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, attempting to elude police and driving under the influence of a controlled substance, Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said today.
Hill was arrested Monday afternoon after officers tried to make a routine traffic stop.
Investigator Sgt. Joe Hargett said officers were trying to locate someone else and tried to stop Hill to see if he knew anything about the person.
“When they tried to stop him, he took off and led them on a short car chase, and then after he stopped the car, he ran before officers caught him,” Joe Hargett said.
Police said crack cocaine was discovered inside Hill’s car.
He is being held in the Russellville City Jail without bail at this time.
