A Stearman biplane from the Clay Smith family collection is displayed outside one of the historical hangars at Pryor Field. This aircraft was used at Pryor Field during World War II to train Army aviators.

A historical marker was unveiled at Pryor Field on Thursday recognizing the airfield’s role in the training of U.S. Army Air Corps pilots during World War II. The facility opened in 1941. The two hangars and beacon in the designation have been in service since the field opened.
