Decatur Police arrest Zachary Matthew Minson after he crashed his car into a fuel pump at the Liberty 2000 station at the corner of 6th Avenue SE and 14th St. SE Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Minson yells "God" at the top of his lungs as officers put him in cuffs.

A driver who crashed his car in the Corr Wireless parking lot and uprooted a kerosene pump at the gas station next door claimed he was Jesus Christ, witnesses said.

Decatur police said the male driver of the red Toyota Corolla was intoxicated and officers arrested him for disorderly conduct following the 2:30 p.m. incident.

The man, identified as Zachary Matthew Minson, threw his head back and repeatedly screamed “God!” before falling down as police tried to take him into custody

“He was acting real weird,” said Brook White of Athens, whose parked car was struck when the Corolla knocked another parked vehicle into it. “He said his name was Jesus Christ.”

Police said the driver was northbound on Sixth Avenue Southeast and apparently swerved to avoid traffic stalled at the 14th Street intersection.

Witnesses said his car went through the entrance of Redstone Federal Credit Union, jumped a divider between the Redstone and Corr Wireless parking lots and never braked before striking the kerosene pump.

“It was so fast, I swear if I had blinked I would have missed it,” White said.

The manager of the Liberty 2000 gas station said the damaged pump will cost about $10,000 to replace.

Firefighters were putting down absorbent powder to dry up the fuel spill.

I wonder if they will charge him for providing a false name. I mean false as in not his.

Well there ya go.

sure but he was a little more polite than Rolando , ro told them his name f ******* Ya,ll

...and there is no drug problem in Decatur. NOT!

another example of car violence! We need tougher car laws NOW!

Ronald: I venture to say that if we did not have the requirement to pass a driving test and get a license to drive a car, we would probably have more traffic fatalities. If you have a license suspended or revoked or even expired for any significant period of time, the coppers will seize your car until a licensed driver can claim it from impound. This system of regulation appears to be having modest success.

We need tougher test, stricter laws, slower cars, smaller cars and get these cars off the streets. People all over this country are getting hurt and killed EVERYDAY by cars and trucks. I don't understand why people think they need these, this country was founded without cars.

About time someone gets arrested wearing an Auburn shirt !!!!!

Everybody knows that Jesus wouldn't be wearing an Auburn shirt! ;)

Cythia......You cant get to heaven in a red canoe cause Gods favorite colors are orange and blue!!!! WAR EAGLE!!!

He had just driven in from Pat Dye's place in Opelika.

Yep! Has to be the shirt! Lol. It appears that he may need an evaluation! He really will after a few days in jail! O_o

how do we know he ain't really Jesus Christ? he's just having another bad day.

This guy just got out of rehab a few weeks ago

Well if he just got out of rehab, he needs to go back and get a refund....it ain't working.

Very sad. He does appear to be mentally unstable.

Just another Auburn Fan, high on life.

@ THOR . . . I'm dying. I just woke up folks here laughing so loudly. You made my night . . actually my week. I owe you a beer. Thanks a million!!!

Actually he was yelling " God why have you forsaken Auburn with these worthless head coaches, and a aweful recruiting class!" Oh yeah it's because we lost our only coach able to recruit, the coach with the towel!!!!
