Daily editorials ‘outstanding'

To The Daily: Kudos to The Daily for your consistently high quality and outstanding editorials. The latest one to stir us was the one on Feb. 13: "Listen folks, your guns are safe."

Your editorials are both timely and reflective of issues important (or ought to be) to us in Decatur. We especially appreciate the vision, clear thinking and artistry demonstrated in the succinct and common-sense description of issues. Also appreciated is the fearless positions you have taken on those issues unpopular or controversial at best with some in our community.

Your editorials are a credit to the finest tradition of local newspapers not only to inform, but alert and expose both public and private-sector activities for what they are. Thank you for your vigilance in monitoring the political machinations going on at local, state and national levels, and providing context for our consideration. We are believers in the opinion that a vigilant, aggressive exercise of freedom of the press is essential to protecting our other freedoms and sustaining our republic and democracy.

Please continue your fine work in providing this service to your readers and our community.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stover

I was waiting for "heavy sarcasm intended" to be added to the end of this letter.

This letter is hilarious!

This is nothing more than the Daily's bad attempt at self praise. How desperate do you have be to write your own letters of praise. This just shows how big of a joke their editorial staff really is.

yeah, carl stover doesnt even exist! or something.

You can't fix stupid.

If Obama can create fake Twitter profiles to tweet Congressmen in supports of gun control, it isn't out of the realm of possibility that the DD offers free subscriptions to those who praise them.

Thank you so much for expressing what many of the rest of us Daily readers think! The opinion pages of the daily are always some of the most interesting in the entire paper and I read them every day without fail!
